About Us

Mission

To provide an all-inclusive, fun, warm and welcoming community for everybody with any body to practice yoga. At Nashville Yoga Co, we honor the history and traditions of yoga while offering practices for the modern practitioner.  Our instructors are dedicated to providing a comfortable environment for anyone who wants to learn and expand their yoga journey.

Location

Located in the heart of Belle Meade, Nashville Yoga Co offers a variety of classes, as well as holding the honor of being an official certified Sumits Yoga™ studio. Having a set series allows someone new to ease into their yoga journey by offering postures in the same progression.  The consistency of the same sequence also provides the more seasoned yogi to deepen and strengthen their practice.  All of our passionate and skilled instructors have been trained through various Yoga Alliance certified curriculums; many having attended our own Yoga Alliance certified 200-hour Teacher Training program.

 

Our Classes

Sumits Series 60 min (Level 1) and 70 min (Level 1 - 2)

The Sumits Yoga™ series was created by Sumit Banerjee based on his own years of experience practicing and teaching various yoga styles including Bikram and Vinyasa. His sequence and style of teaching reinforces his primary objectives as a teacher: helping others to realize the powerful wellness benefits of yoga including a stronger, toned and more flexible body and an improved state of mind encouraging relaxation, self-acceptance and awareness. Sumit understands the healing aspect of heat. “It’s simple”, he says, “In a yoga class, you practice poses that require stretching and compression of the joints, muscles, ligaments and other supporting structures of the body. Your body naturally protects itself from physical exertion by generating heat from the inside muscles outwards. We start with the heat up front…providing that extra protection from the very first poses. Another added benefit is that your body burns fat more effectively. It’s not uncommon for our students practicing regularly to lose inches of shape in a relatively short time”. He encourages all students – newcomers and experienced students alike – to begin and maintain a consistent practice regardless of the style preferred. “You’ll benefit from class by your effort regardless of how far or deep you get. As long as you are feeling it and you are breathing calmly, you’re practicing correctly.”

45 Minute Express Hot Flow (Level 2)

This class is a flow-based class, moving with a steady pace of consciousness coupling of breath and movement.  Many of our primary series postures can be found in this vibrant and fun class. The class moves fast and is practiced in a hot and humid and supportive environment.

Hot Vinyasa (Level 1) and Hot Vinyasa+ (Level 1 - 2)

Our Vinyasa and Vinyasa+ offers a variety of benefits by providing a well-rounded energetic class.  Along with the expanded flexibility that comes from a vinyasa flow, class also focuses on strength and core and will help tone, focus, and balance the entire body and mind. Each class offers variety and each instructor brings their own flair. Expect a fun, rigorous, fast-paced and sweaty time on your mat!

HIIT Core (Level2)

HIIT Core is a powerful class combining low impact moves with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Performed in a slightly lower heat than the usual Nashville Yoga Co temperature, this practice builds a stronger core and speeds metabolism for weight loss while developing long, lean muscle mass.  All levels of any practice are encouraged - yogis and non-yogis love this class!

Hot Yoga 26 (Level 1)

Hot Yoga 26 is the classic hot yoga 26 poses in a fixed series that moves through the same 26 poses and two breathing exercises. Most poses are done twice and held for a set amount of time. This class offers many benefits by providing a well-rounded energetic class.

Individual Interactive Classes (All Levels)

Two Individual Interactive Classes are offered each month on the second Tuesday and the fourth Thursday. This class is for individuals only, for multiple participants, inquire about NYCo’s Semi-private Lessons. The instructor for each date is listed for the class. If you prefer a particular instructor, please check the future classes to see if they signed up to teach a class, or you can inquire if they instruct their own individual lessons.

  • The instructor's prerequisites for the NYCo Individual Interactive Class:
    200+ YA Certified Yoga Training.
    One Year Teaching at NYCo.
    100 Teacher Hours Registered with Yoga Alliance.

Sculpt Yoga (Level 1 - 2)

Sculpt Yoga is a true blend of balance, core strengthening and flexibility. This class combines the detoxifying qualities of yoga with the intensity of core and HIIT training. Focus is on opening the shoulders, hips, and lengthening the spine, while strengthening your core and upper body. This class will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to conquer the day!

Yin Yoga (Level 1)

The practice starts with mindful meditation. Props (BYOP) can be used to support the body as poses are held for extended time allowing for deep stretches that are soft, rather than muscle driven. In this class you will work the connective tissues of your ligaments, joints and deep fascial networks while focusing on deep stretching, breathing and relaxation. This class is practiced in less heat than a normal hot class. Yin Yoga is the perfect complement to a regular practice of active asana.
